Norwegian Church Aid is seeking two dedicated GBV Advisors/Senior Advisors to join our team in Oslo, to lead the development and implementation of NCA’s programme to prevent violence against women, girls, boys and men.
An important part of the job is to train, guide and support relevant staff at the different NCA country offices around the world, both on GBViE and on long-term programmes, but also strengthening GBV prevention, protection and response in NCA’s partners’ humanitarian interventions and long term development work. You will be an integral part of NCA's programmes on gender based violence in conflict, post-conflict and humanitarian crisis. You can expect frequent travels, both to NCA’s country offices as well as in humanitarian responses.
The permanent positions are based at NCA Head Office in Oslo Norway in the Humanitarian Division. The division is responsible for the implementation of NCA’s Humanitarian Strategy, humanitarian thematic programme development, innovation and coordination of thematic resources, as well as contributing towards global humanitarian thematic policy and advocacy efforts.

Job description
Support the development, implementation and strengthening of NCA’s GBV programme to prevent violence against women, girls, boys and men.
Develop, quality assure and support country offices with applications, planning, implementation, and results reporting, ensuring common cross-context learning across the organisation while contributing to more integrated responses and long-term approaches.
Capacity build, support and guide relevant staff at NCA country offices and partner organisations on GBViE and long-term programmes through technical trainings and coaching.
Actively participate in relevant global advocacy and coordination platforms, while developing strong, collaborative relationships across the organisation to ensure integrated responses, and with external partners.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in social science, gender studies, humanitarian affairs, international development, related degree or related field. Solid and relevant field experience can replace formal education.
- Minimum five years of proven specialised experience in GBV prevention and response programming in conflict and post-conflict settings, with solid knowledge of international humanitarian standards for GBViE.
- Solid experience in training and capacity building, particularly using participatory approaches and methods for training related to different components of GBV programming.
- Excellent donor and partnership relations, in particular non-traditional funding streams from foundations, and creative development of private partnerships within the corporate sector.
- Experience in leading donor application processes and/or quality assure the technical components.
- Being able and willing to travel to low, medium and high-risk areas from 90 to 120 days per year, sometimes on a short notice (48 hours).
- Experience in the use of office software packages (MS word, Excel, Teams etc), experience in handling of web-based management systems.
- Proficiency in French and English oral and written is a must. Working level of Arabic is desirable.
